It’s That Time of Year: CH+D Awards Time

Since working at CH+D, I always equate fall with three-ring binders. Not because school is just getting underway but because now is the season of our annual CH+D Awards. It’s our biggest contest of the year, and has typically resulted in my favorite issue of the year, filled with the absolute best design coming out of California. Every November, dozens of entries, all organized neatly in binders, pour in for each of our eleven categories. (And this year we’re hoping there will be a few more thanks to the addition of a brand new category: Kitchen or Bath Design.)
During the marathon day that the judges all come together to look at each and every project, we are lucky enough to get a holistic view of design in California, from products, to commercial space design to residential interiors to architecture. And while only one from each category will be deemed the winner, it’s never an easy choice, and we almost always end up featuring a handful of our favorite runner-ups throughout the rest of the year.
The deadline to submit this year is November 12, so get your three-ring binders ready and send us your best work from the last two years. We are so excited to see what you’ve been up to, and then celebrate with you all at our 2011 CH+D Awards Gala, an event that seems to get more fabulous every year.
