Alexander McQueen for The Rug Company

Opulence. Drama. Extravagance. British fashion designer Alexander McQueen was known for all of these qualities in his runway collections. But before his death earlier this year, McQueen also teamed up with The Rug Company to create a lavish collection of four rugs and two cushions. Hummingbird perfectly captures the birds in flight, the sense of delicate movement and the jewel colors.

Feathers incorporates a pattern taken from the breast and wing feathers of a hawk. Made of cashmere, in subtle grey tones, it’s soft and light.

Skull is a bit edgier, with silk skulls on a wool background.

Military Brocade also incorporates a skull, adding a serpent, wreath, ferns and oak leaves. The design was originally created as embroidery for a coat in 2001, and inspired by traditional military uniforms.

Cushions are also available for the Hummingbird and Skull designs.

Prices range from $240 per square foot to $350 per square foot. More information is on The Rug Company’s website.
