Design Buzz: The Groninger MuseumAuthor:Bryan Anthony
Every now and then there is an opening of a new store, new hotel, or in this case a new museum, that has the design world buzzing. The latest buzz is all about the reopening of the Groninger Museum in the Netherlands. After an eight-month and six million euro renovation the museum has recently opened its doors to the public.
The new additions to the museum include a redesigned entrance lounge, a high tech information center and a renovated restaurant.
The almost medieval-like entrance lounge was designed by Dutch design firm Studio Job.
The futuristic information center with individual computer pods was created by Spanish artist Jaime Hayon.
The sleekly renovated Mendini restaurant was created by Dutch designer Martin Bass.
