Architect Barbie DebutsAuthor:Lindsey Shook
The latest addition to “Barbie I Can Be” line aims to to get the iconic bombshell into the business of designing her own dream houses. According to Mattel, the Barbie Architect is “ready to tackle the daily responsibilities of a real architect in or out of the office… wearing an architecturally inspired dress showcasing a city skyline, Barbie doll’s outfit is symmetrically stylish with bold colors and clean lines.” My favorite details are the hot pink blueprint holder and the black-framed glasses perched above her perky side ponytail.
Apparently, two AIA members consulted with Mattel to ensure they got the look right, down to the site-scouting hard hat. What do you think—will Barbie Architect help persuade a new generation of girls to get building?
