Blu Dot Opens First West Coast Store on MelroseAuthor:Marissa Gluck
Minneapolis-based Blu Dot is laying down roots in Los Angeles. Last week, the home furnishings company opened its first Left Coast store in Los Angeles. According to the LA Times, the city represents the second largest market for the modern furniture studio.
Building on the success of its first store in New York’s SoHo three years ago, the owners have opened a 3,500 square foot showroom on Melrose Ave just west of Fairfax in what has quickly become a modern design mecca. That particular stretch of Melrose is worlds away from the Ed Hardy-shopping hordes to the east of Fairfax, with neighbors like Jonathan Adler and Denmark 50. Lest you think the neighborhood has gone too upscale, the store has already been “inaugurated” with a piece by street artist XVALA.
In addition to the line of furniture, the store also carries accessories like bird feeders and watches, pillow covers, throws and baskets. And of course, de riguer for any fashionable BoBo, denim iPad and iPod covers from MS&Co.The store is located at 8000 Melrose Ave and is open 10:00 AM through 6:00 PM Monday through Saturday and 12:00 PM through 5:00 PM on Sunday.
