Wake Up On Your Own Terms
Author:Lindsey ShookThe point of a shrieking alarm clock is to irritate you right out of bed. But isn’t there a nicer way to wake up? Royal College of Art graduate Ki Hyun Kim certainly thought so when he designed his Alternative Alarm Clock. Combining a digital clock with a two-socket extension lead, this alarm clock allows you to plug in electronic devices in order to wake up in your own preffered manner. Prefer the smell of brewing coffee? Perhaps a nice gentle breeze? How about a strobe light? (That would be creepy.) Whatver your choice, the Alternative Alarm Clock will supply power to it at the designated time instead of omitting its own sound.
The project was featured at Show RCA 2011 in London. No word yet on production plans.
