Space of the Day: September 2, 2011

Here, architect Mary Ann Schicketanz wanted to showcase the specatular views of the celebrated Big Sur headlands. This roof deck, which hovers over a cliff, has glass walls to protect it from the wind and a living roof installed with solar panels.
