See it Your Way: TOMS Promotes World Sight Day

Author:

The monthly Downtown LA Art Walk is taking place this Thursday, October 13 from 6-10pm. It’s one of our favorite events each month and a fantastic opportunity to check out LA’s best galleries, new shops, restaurants and more. This month we’re especially excited to see TOMS’ One for One exhibit, which raises awareness for World Sight Day, which happens to also be October 13.

Since its start, TOMS has donated a pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased. Now the company has expanded into sight–meaning that for every pair of TOMS glasses sold, the company works with a variety of partners to provide someone in need with either prescription glasses, medical treatment or sight-saving surgery.

So what does all of this have to do with the Downtown LA Art Walk? Well, not only is TOMS sponsoring the Art Walk, they also commissioned three local artists (Aaron Axelrod, Philip Lumbang and street artist Septerhead) to create original works of art inspired by the same three reference images.  The series, entitled Gift of Sight, will premiere at the Art Walk Lounge located at 643 S. Spring Street, LA.
