Estate Sale: The Curley Collection
Author:Lindsey ShookStarting today, more than 500 artworks by Northern California artists will be sold in a massive estate sale. The works are from the collection of Charles H. Curley, a prolific collector of paintings, drawings, pottery and sculpture.
The event happens at 906 4th St. in San Rafael and features the eclectic collections of Curley, a two-time mayor of Larkspur, a successful businessman and a fixture of several Marin County art organizations. Based on the offerings of this estate sale, it’s clear Curley liked his art and he liked it local. According to the event organizers at Fine Estate Liquidation, you won’t find any nationally acclaimed artists in the mix, but will discover plenty of beloved local artisans.
The works range from rather sedate landscapes to seriously funky oil paintings.
No matter what your taste, there’s something for everyone.
And if you prefer art that’s three dimensional, there’s plenty to choose from.
Apparently Curley also appreciated the decorative arts, including sterling silver serving ware. There’s a treasure trove of it here.
The event takes place today through Monday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
