Made in CA: Comfortable Silence Bench and PlanterAuthor:Lindsey Shook
The son of a carpenter, furniture designer Jory Brigham has been working with chisels and planes for as long as he can remember. Today, 15 years after opening his own studio in San Luis Obispo, his passion for the craft has only grown.
The name of his latest creation, Comfortable Silence, was inspired by a conversation Brigham had with his wife during a road trip. “I’m usually talking a mile a minute in the car,” says Brigham. “But I was so engrossed thinking about the design of the bench that I didn’t make a peep. When my wife became concerned, I told her that I was creating the comfortable silence she always desires.” Jory Brigham Design, jorybrigham.com.
