You’re Invited: Blu Homes Open House in Joshua Tree
Author:Lindsey ShookA rare opportunity awaits you in the Mojave Desert. This Saturday and Sunday, September 15-16, prefab darling Blu Homes and its first Southern California clients Tim and Neda Disney (yes, Disney Disney) invite you to tour their recently completed home and experience a Blu Home in a new setting—a stunning oasis in Joshua Tree’s rocky, otherworldly terrain.
A fabulous example of Blu Homes’ innovative and sustainable modular homes, this particular home is a unique configuration drawn from the builder’s most versatile design, Blu | Origin. The Disneys have paired two modest 18-foot-wide Origin home units and a separate guest unit to create one unique space. If you’re wondering about the price tag, prices for the Origin model start at a fixed price of $135,000 in California.
What’s even more impressive is that everything was built in six to eight weeks in Blu Homes’ Bay Area factory, transported by truck, and unfolded on the site. As you will see this weekend, high ceilings, wide expanses of windows, and high-end finishes make a strong case for prefab. Watch a video of the house going up.
The tour is free, but Blu Homes asks that you RSVP here. There will be a mandatory shuttle service from Joshua Basin Water District; participants will not be permitted to drive to the site. Drinks and hors d’oeuvres will be served at the house, but if you’d like a pool to go with that drink, make a weekend of it! The Ace Hotel in Palm Springs is offering a special 15% discount on phone reservations using the code “bluhomes”.
For more info visit the official Joshua Tree Open House website.
Open September 15-16, 10am-5pm. Mandatory shuttle from Joshua Basin Water District (61750 Cholita Rd., Joshua Tree, CA 92252).
