Leslie Williamson Unveils Photographs for New Book

Author:

Leslie Williamson’s first book, Handcrafted Modern, gave us a beautiful glimpse into 13 homes and one apartment of masters of studio furniture, architects and industrial designers from around the United States. From Charles and Ray Eames, to Irving Harper and Albert Frey, each home was photographed in its original state.

Fast forward two years later and Williamson is writing her second book, Handcrafted Modern Europe, where we will get a look inside designers homes across the pond. We have seen a sneak peek of the images and they are breathtaking.

Home of Italian architect and designer Gae Aulenti was still living in this apartment when Williamson shot the space. Sadly she passed away about a month after it was photographed so it has a special place in Williamsons heart.

This Thursday you will have the chance to see these photographs first-hand. Leslie will be sharing an in-depth slideshow of images from her new book at Heath Ceramics on Thursday night. The four homes she’ll be sharing a sneak peek of are the homes of Alvar Aalto, Finn Juhl, Bruno Mathsson and Gae Aulenti. The Heath event is also an effort to raise money for Williamson’s Kickstarter program. She is trying to raise $41,000 in order to finish the book.

Thursday, March 7, 7 – 9 pm. Slideshow begins at 7:30pm. Heath Ceramics, 2900 18th Street, San Francisco. Please RSVP to lwillphoto77@gmail.com.
