SFJAZZ Features Wild Weekend Program
Author:Lindsey ShookIf you have not visited the new SFJAZZ Center yet, it’s about high time.
As the San Francisco Chronicle mentions, “The SFJAZZ Center is ambitious in its vision to present the diverse spectrum of jazz in a first-rate facility,” and this upcoming week is no exception.
The weekend’s program features a wild, not-to-be-missed performance by edgy jazz pianist, and resident SFJAZZ Artistic Director, Jason Moran. The 37 year-old pianist has won numerous awards (including a coveted MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship in 2010) for his brazenly romantic, yet asperous style.
For two days starting Saturday, Moran and his trio Bandwagon collaborate with a handful of Bay Area skateboarding luminaries for improvisation and aerial artistry that will take place on stage at the SFJAZZ center on a constructed half-pipe! It has to be seen to be believed.
Sat & Sun, May 4 – 5, Miner Auditorium. Purchase tickets here.
