Sneak Peek: New SFMOMA MuseumStore
Author:Lindsey ShookOriginally published on 7×7.
Waiting three years for SFMOMA to reopen will be hard enough, but going that long without my go-to art and design store would mean an uninspired holiday season (the MuseumStore has been my one-stop-shop for gifts three years running now). In the spirit of great pop-ups, SFMOMA has made a temporary home for its shop on Yerba Buena Lane in the old Museum of Craft and Folk Art space across from the Contemporary Jewish Museum. The store, which opened on August 7, was designed to evoke memories of the old space. Think gray- and black-striped columns (a nod to the old museum’s atrium), reused wood and materials from the original store, and sustainable bamboo and cork.
