Your New Apartment Is a One-Tap App Away

Having recently signed the dotted line on an apartment lease after four months of searching, subletting, and couch-surfing, I feel like I’ve been around the block (not to mention the city) a few times when it comes to the unrelenting San Francisco house hunt.

On my person at all times in a crisp file folder were multiple copies of my drivers license, references, job offer letters, paystub scans, credit reports, and no less than five variations of applications all stapled neatly together, topped off with a pretty little business card I could hand over whilst wooing roommates, agents, and landlords who I could only hope would deem me and my credentials as the right fit for the open spot.

Now, apartment-finding app Lovely has unveiled a one-tap solution called Apply with Lovely that will streamline the application process with minimal paperwork. The app update, created in partnership with Experian, rolled out this morning and is available to apartment hunters nationwide.

Both the mobile and desktop versions of Lovely have been a handy tool to help apartment hunters locate available units via specific search filters and start a dialogue with property managers. Apply with Lovely is the most recent mobile update that allows users to apply to their desired property immediately after they view it with a credit report sent right in tow. Instead of having to request a credit report online, print out the novel of a document, and make a hundred copies to lug around the city as you run from open house to open house, you’ll pay a flat fee of $20 to have Apply with Lovely do the work for you. When submitting your application, Experian Connect will send over a complete credit history to property owners and managers, who will be able to view it alongside important renter information including desired move-in date, roommates, annual income, etc.

With this single-click application system, Experian and Lovely hope to give apartment hunters a competitive edge by allowing them to make housing decisions faster and effortlessly  – or at least as effortlessly as apartment hunting can be. You do the legwork, and Lovely does the paperwork. If you’re in the market for a new home, try it out, and let us know how you like it!

In the meantime, the tried-and-true freshly baked cookie platter might be just the ticket to one more night on your friend’s couch.
