Finally, a Tech-Savvy Hotel For the Design-Obsessed

Mark it in your iCal: The Epiphany Hotel is slated for a March 2014 opening and is poised to infuse imagination, innovation, and fun into the Silicon Valley start-up scene.

The eight-story luxury hotel will join the impressive portfolio of boutique hotel company Joie de Vivre, and its warm, inviting designs will cast a casual-cool vibe in downtown Palo Alto. Unsurprisingly, it will stand in good company, surrounded by innovation hubs like Facebook’s first headquarters and Stanford University.

The previous 1970s building was torn down completely, and the current transformation is being executed under the meticulous eye of Palo Alto-based firm Steinberg Architects and McCartan Interior Design, who can be credited with the stunning design of Joie de Vivre’s Hotel Vitale in San Francisco. Guest rooms in The Epiphany will be infused with a zing of vibrant chartreuse and soft robin’s egg hues, and outfitted with comfy ergonomic desk chairs.

We would totally escape here for its proximity to the downtown shops (Apple! Design Within Reach!) as well as for work trips. To make working off-site a more enjoyable experience, The Epiphany will offer coworking spaces playfully called The Accelerator work lounge and Tinderbox boardroom. The hotel turns business into pleasure, boasting rooftop hospitality suites, G-link iPod docking stations that wirelessly stream media to the hotel TV (hello, Netflix nights), and outstanding views of Stanford’s Hoover Tower and the Santa Cruz Mountains – all enjoyable within the confines of the organic, warm, yet ultra-chic hotel interior.

The hotel’s hype is centered around the bright, fully-wired, clean-lined meeting and event spaces imagined by SF-based innovative consulting firm IDEO. To get your daily news and moves on, complimentary New York Times issues and health club access help make the guest experience a well-rounded and healthful one. How else is one supposed to compensate for all the meals enjoyed at the 80-seat indoor-outdoor restaurant?

We’re giddy over the artisan details too, naturally. Malin + Goetz toiletries can be found sprinkled throughout the bathrooms, and Frette luxury towels and Turkish bathrobes will make it nearly impossible (nor necessary) to step out of your hotel room.
