Chat With CH+D’s Editor In Chief During Modernism Week

If you’re planning on donning your sunnies and basking in all things midcentury design next week in Palm Springs for Modernism Week, put this on your agenda: In addition to lectures, luncheons, live music events, and late night parties, our very own editor in chief, Erin Feher, will be leading the Never Built Palm Springs panel discussion that explores the unfinished architecture projects that could have been a part of the thriving SoCal oasis.

Via Modernism Week

Joining Erin at the Never Built panel will be co-creators Greg Goldin (former Los Angeles Magazine architecture critic) and Sam Lubell (West Coast Editor of the Architect’s Newspaper and author of five architecture books) – they are coming in hot off the heels of the very first Never Built LA exhibition – as well as Palm Spring Art Museum curator of architecture and design Sidney Williams, and architects Lance O’Donnell and Jennifer Siegal.

The best part? This panel takes place – poolside! – at the retro-fabulous the Saguaro Palm Springs that is infused with 1950s Technicolor and a buzzing, beachy scene. Guest rooms are decked out in vibrant rainbow-striped linens and juicy, neon furniture that plays off of the color-blocked exterior. Ride around the resort in style on the electric blue cruiser bikes, cool off in an Olympic-sized pool (the largest pool in Palm Springs), and be sure to hang by the poolside bar, sipping your favorite cocktail.

If you’re looking for a bite to eat before the panel, stop by the intimate Tinto restaurant – known for its exquisite Basque tapas bar and small plates fare – for brunch at 11 a.m. prior to the panel.

Palm Springs Never Built, February 15, 2013, Brunch at Tinto: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM; Panel Discussion: 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.; cost: $15, $30 with brunch. Check out the full schedule of Modernism Week events and buy tickets here.
