New Source for Food and Home Inspiration Launches in SF


Over the weekend, the San Francisco Chronicle launched its revamped section dedicated to the two things Bay Areans arguably love the most. The new Food+Home section is an amalgam of their previously separate Food & Wine and Home & Garden pages. The newspaper promises a hearty 16-page lifestyle section that delves into food, wine, entertaining, gardening, and home design news and trends. 

“The new content and longer format of Food+Home enables us to tell the story of food and design in a completely new and exciting way,” says Kitty Morgan, assistant managing editor for the Chron’s lifestyle division. “We aren’t simply reporting on food – we’re reporting on culture today.”

Some are saddened at the loss of the country’s last standalone food section; however, the editors behind Food+Home affirm there will be expanded restaurant coverage, recipes and technique with a local slant, and home design that only exists in the Bay Area. The Chron has long been known for esteemed food writers Michael Bauer, Paolo Lucchesi, and Jon Bonné, and they’ll be adding new voices with the likes of Jonathan Kauffman (formerly of Tasting Table and SFWeekly) and John Birdsall (formerly of Chow). 

The expanded section hit stands last Sunday, June 29.
