No Gray Area: Kelly Wearstler X Shantell Martin Launch Party

The launch of Kelly Wearstler’s exclusive collaboration collection by NYC-based artist, Shantell Martin held at the designer’s flagship Melrose boutique on October 14th. Design-industry influencers like Oliver Furth were in attendance along with cult-fashion favorites Clare Vivier and Magda Berliner and actress, Queen Latifah.
The decadent space–aptly outfitted in classic Kelly Wearstler style with gilded accents, vintage books and glamorous furnishings buzzed as Shantell Martin created a piece right before the eyes of the guests–drawing from the harmonious energy flowing throughout the room. A delighted and jovial, Shantell thanked party-goers as she shared her vision and expressed how thrilled she was to collaborate with Kelly on the KWxSM collection.
But Shantell did not limit her craft to the massive Wearstler sculpture. She went so far as to use guests as her canvas, drawing on body parts and clothing–an experience folks raved about. Those who didn’t get Shantell’s mark looked on at tees, bowls, chairs, stools and the much loved Big Kiss.
The evening was marked by Shantell’s showcase and the stunning pieces all around, but Kelly herself charmed the crowd with her warmth and her talk about the overall excellence of working with such a talented and cutting edge Visual Artist.
