Taste A Kiss Of Spain At Beso In San Francisco

Author:

Bisou Group, the masterminds behind French favorite Bisou Bistronomy, has graced another unique San Francisco space with their unique take on traditional European cuisine and a “kiss”-themed moniker. Beso, the group’s new Spanish-inspired bistro, is serving up seasonal, farm-fresh tapas along with an extensive wine and beer selection in the heart of the Castro.

The locally-sourced menu is the brainchild of Bisou Group’s executive chef and co-owner Nicolas Ronan and consulting chef and partner Anthony Lemortellac of New York City’s Boqueria. Along with co-owner and general manager Damien Chabaud-Arnault, the team also compiled an extensive list of fine Spanish and California wines. Fusing Catalan flavor with Coastal California cooking, Beso channels the energy of Northeastern Spain with the fresh ingredients of the Napa Valley.

Beso’s eclectic menu makes it the perfect destination for indecisive diners—the sharable small plates range from cool, refreshing snacks to hearty, hot delicacies. From patatas bravas to steamed mussels with chorizo and setas with Manchego cheese, Beso’s menu pleases every palette. In addition to Spanish cheeses, house-made sauces, and tapenades, plus cut-to-order Serrano and Iberico meats, the restaurant’s back chalkboard wall also features the daily, ever-changing market specials.

Tecta Associates transformed a former 18th street garage into Beso’s stunning home, incorporating modern design elements and handcrafted statement pieces created by some of the Bay Area’s best designers. Featuring an open kitchen format and plentiful seating, Beso’s brick walls, rustic wood tables, and dark leather seating provide a cozy setting for groups big and small.

You can taste a piece of Spain at Beso’s prime location at 4058A 18th Street between Castro and Hartford. They’re open for dinner seven nights a week, starting at 5pm. You can also hit up their weekend brunch Saturdays and Sundays from 10 am-3 pm. For reservations, call 415-801-5392 or visit OpenTable. For more information, check out their website at besosf.com.
