On The Block: Designer Solange Azagury-Partridge Curates A Sale For Paddle8

Multi-tasker of much and master of all, Solange Azagury-Partridge is at the top of her game as a jeweler and designer. Her signature works— intensely colored jewels, sold from her intensely colored shops in London, New York, and Paris—grace an A-list of famous bodies. She’s a filmmaker. She’s a collector of objects and art that speak to her, and in her first curated sale for online auctioneers Paddle8 (now through May 19th) there’s a lot to listen to. We’ve chosen a few lots that speak to us as well.

Lot 19, set in white gold, a dazzling pair of sapphire and enamel earrings by the designer are expected to bring £6,000 to £8,000 GBP.

Strokeable surfaces: Lot 35 is a green velvet upholstered desk with brass studs designed by Azagury-Partridge, estimated at £1,000 to £1,500 GBP. Lot 28 is a velvet and gilt bronze loveseat and ottoman by the French designers Elizabeth Garouste and Mattia Bonetti. Think ’80s Neoclassicism, and £4,500 to £5,500 GBP.

From the eminent French jeweler, Cartier, a pair of adorable ladybug earrings that won’t fly away. Lot 27 is estimated at £3,000 to £5,000 GBP.

Not everything is expensive or made of precious materials—Lot 41 is a jolt of hot ’60s color in a classic tribal design you can rest your head on for between £250 to £350 GBP.

Long before his iconic flower silkscreens, Andy Warhol started his career with shoe illustration. His celestial hand-colored lithograph entitled Shoe Bright, Shoe Bright, First Shoe I’ve Seen Tonight from 1955 is expected to bring between £3,000 to £5,000.

Yayoi Kusayama is one of the planet’s most delightfully prolific artists, but her soft pumpkin is one piece we really covet. Hilarity comes in at 55 inches in diameter, and is estimated at £500 to £700 GBP.

Back to nature: celebrate spring with this brilliant enamel and gold ring by Azagury-Partridge, designed in 2011. An example of this gilded menagerie was acquired by the Victoria & Albert Museum for their permanent jewelry collection. Lot 26 is expected to bring between £5,000 and £7,000 GBP.
