CONTEST ALERT: BottleRock Ticket Giveaway And Design Showcase
Author:Lindsey ShookRichard Von Saal, of Von Saal Design + Build, is pairing up with JW Thomas Wine Group to create an alluring, beautiful, and comfortable space at BottleRock for wine and design-lovers, and anyone who’s looking to sip and relax. And they’re giving away BottleRock tickets to CH+D readers!
The 3-day festival of wine, food, and music is happening May 29-31 in Napa Valley and will feature 75+ artists, including Imagine Dragons, Robert Plant, Brett Dennen, Michael Franti, and more. The JW Thomas Wine Group tent will be 20 feet by 20 feet, found in the main stage area, and will showcase Von Saal’s unique and celebrated approach to architecture and design, plus JW Thomas’ award winning, musically inspired wines.
Every winery is given the opportunity to create a space for guests to relax, enjoy BottleRock, and present their wines for sale. Since BottleRock will sell the wines in booths between the winery tents, removing direct winery sales from the equation, what people choose to buy and where to spend their time will depend on what the winery does to entice. Ian White, President of JW Thomas Wine Group, which has already won 3 gold medals and two Best In Class awards from prestigious competitions this year, noted, “who the crowd chooses to purchase from will come down to providing a great atmosphere, gracious hosting, thoughtful spatial design, and of course great wine. We’re friendly folks with highly acclaimed wines, so our partnership with this beloved Napa designer will not only improve our hosting significantly because of who Richard is, but will give us a beautiful place, probably the most beautiful and comfortable space at BottleRock, to play host.”
Richard Von Saal was a major contributor to the first BottleRock, designing and building many of the iconic pieces you’ll see throughout the festival, including the large wood guitar and speaker cask. He is perhaps best known for his innovative fusion of natural, rustic materials with stylish modern design and re-use of elements that he personally excavates from old buildings, ships, and fallen trees.
“There is so much beauty and purpose hiding in spaces that others might call dilapidated, broken, or dead. I love finding and molding these objects into useful and alluring artwork for clients. This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase my work at BottleRock, support a dear friend, and create a sexy and beautiful space for everyone to enjoy during this fabulous 3-day extravaganza,” he said.
Richard’s artwork can be found throughout the Bay Area, from resort hotels like the Andaz, to art collectives like Ma(I)sonry in Yountville, and tasting lounges like John Antony Vineyards. He has designed wineries, tasting rooms, wine labels, restaurants, and is currently working on a series of projects in San Francisco and a hotel in Napa Valley.
For the design lovers that adore wine and the wine lovers that adore design…you’ve found your home at BottleRock.
