Arteriors Launches A New Entertaining Collection Designed by Jay Jeffers
Author:Lindsey ShookIt’s no secret that we love Jay Jeffers. Known for his exquisite designs and chic aesthetic, the San Francisco-based designer is now sharing his talent for entertaining with the launch of the Jay Jeffers for Arteriors entertaining collection. An expert at mixing the past with the future, Jeffers applied his “collected cool” style, while mainting originality in each piece. From the super elegant drink tables to the versatile and embellished trays, Jeffers has once again “elevated the evironment.” We quickly caught up with the Bay Area icon to find out more about the collaboration.
– Was there one specific period or icon that served as the inspiration for this collection?
The inspiration comes from my travels, beautiful hotels, fashion, and really living life to the fullest! There is certainly an element of Art Deco, and an homage to the period of time when dressing for dinner was de rigeur. I love a proper cocktail and entertaining on a grand scale as well as a super casual scale, and this collection lends itself to both.

-It’s clear by the collection you love to entertain. What piece is the most essential for someone to entertain in style?
An ice bucket is a must have. Whether it holds ice for your cocktails or a bottle of champs, it needs to be on hand for a party of 4 or a party of 40. And of course the cocktail table. Our collection of small tables that perfectly hold one drink and can be moved easily to wherever you may be imbibing!

–I often describe your aesthetic as “Gracious” because every detail is a wonderfully considered design moment for everyone involved. This collection exemplifies that thoughtfulness. Can you give us a glimpse at your process?
Together with my senior designer, Victoria Nady, we began with inspiration gathered over years of designing, entertaining, traveling and more. That combined with images, sketches, ideas, thoughts, laughter, a drink or two and voila….the collaboration was born. I tend to hand draw or draft my designs because that is where I work out the details of the piece. And Arteriors helped us through the process so much given that this is my first line for the world to see!

-Do you have a favorite piece from the collection, and if so why?
I’m kind of obsessed with the Pierre Ice bucket. It holds 2 bottles of champs (#thinkingahead). And I had a lot of fun with the etching on this mini collection of pieces. I also love the Octavia cocktail table, she is super fun and flirty.

-What did you learn the most by working with Arteriors?
Arteriors is an amazing company. Mark Moussa and his team gave us great creative license and collaborated with us to produce these pieces. Designing custom furniture for private clients is something I’ve done for years. But to design smaller pieces on a larger scale and the level of detail that goes into them as well as the capabilities of the team of artisans Mark works with was a new experience and something I really enjoyed. The whole experience was kick ass!
