Here’s your chance to hobnob with LA’s design community as you gather ideas for your living room refurb. This year’s opening party benefits the Architecture + Design Museum and promises a festive evening of cocktails, design talks, and door prizes. Pencil in California Home + Design’s Saturday afternoon panel about how technology is changing the landscape of interior design featuring Anna Brockway of Chairish, Jaime Derringer of DesignMilk, and Mat Sanders of MyDomaine. Exhibit
This year marks the 100th anniversary of the Panama-Pacific International Exposition. The world’s fair celebrated the opening of the Panama Canal, as well as the city’s reconstruction after the 1906 earthquake, and is the pivotal event that put San Francisco on the map as the West Coast’s epicenter of culture. In this ceremonious exhibit, you’ll have the chance to see more than 200 of the 11,000 paintings, sculptures, prints, and photos that were on display at this monumental event.

Frank Gehry’s Tuyomyo chaise lounge

Next weekend, the Museum of California Design will honor the one, the only Frank Gehry. But before you conjure visions of Bilbao Spain and LA’s Walt Disney Concert Hall, know that this award ceremony recognizes the architect’s achievements in product design. This red-carpet gala kicks off the first survey exhibit of Gehry’s furniture, jewelry, and lighting design (between the years 1972 to 2012). At this once-in-a-lifetime event, you’ll also have the chance to bid on items by Ed Ruscha, Frank Gehry, Gere Kavanaugh, and Doyle Lane in silent and live auctions.

Join Traditional Home for their annual decorator showcase, for which more than 20 designers have decked out the rooms in three historic properties—a Napa bungalow that dates back to 1887, a 1935 Tudor Revival, and the Inn at Randolph (which was once the Victorian Hannah Moore carriage house from 1860).

Opening
Arkitektura, which is celebrating 30 years of bringing the best of contemporary European design stateside, opens a brand-new 1,700-square-foot Kartell boutique this month. Inside, you’ll find innovative products geared towards the cost-minded consumer. Impeccably curated by founder Andrew Fisher, the showroom will showcase the work of such design greats as Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola, and Marcel Wanders.
