Open Today: Traditional Home’s 2015 Napa Valley Showhouse Highlights Revival Of Downtown Napa
Author:Lindsey ShookCalifornia Home +Design had a sneak peek tour of the brand-new Traditional Home 2015 Napa Valley Showhouse, which opens to the public today in Napa in the heart of California Wine Country. Themed “Revival on Randolph Street,” the showcase highlights the charming renovation of three historic Napa Valley homes: a 1860s Victorian, a 1880s Napa Bungalow, and a 1935 Tudor Revival. Given the recent earthquake shake up in the region, the project, which includes the inspired work of 20 nationally leading interior designers, seems especially timely. Included here are a few of the many highlights that caught our eye. We tried our best not to touch the wet paint!
Our tour began at 411 Randolph Street at the historic Victorian Inn on Randolph owned by Karen and Dan Lynch. Here LMK Interiors had revamped and refined the inn interior while Kim Scodro of Kim Scodro Interiors was putting the finishing touches on a delightful design for the carriage house, a former spa-room-turned-guestroom.
Nearby at 367 Randolph Street, the 1880s Bungalow owned by Carlisle and Paul Engelhardt, a dramatic dining room by Julie Rootes Interiors anchored the floorplan, modernizing the home’s historic sensibility.

Ingenious details abounded, such as the wine bar, which featured a variety of whimsical doorknobs adorning each of the wine corks.

The master bedroom by David Hansen Design was what principal David Hansen called a “rhapsody in blue.” The soothing space was littered with personal art, books, and accessories that reflect the owners’ many lively journeys.

A glamorous highlight was the guest bedroom, which also doubled as a functional home office, by Courtney Lake of Monogram Decor. Lake said his inspiration came from “Napa at night…it’s what Napa means to me—magical, nostalgic, but contemporary.”

We got a tantalizing look at the living room, designed by John Loecke and Jason Oliver Nixon of the effortlessly exuberant Madcap Cottage, which was still under wraps. That said, we spied several clever moments including an ode to authoress Danielle Steel on the bookcase.

Our last stop was 375 Randolph Street, a 1935 Tudor Revival and home to renowned Napa winemaker Drew Neiman. Highlights here included Erinn Valencich’s sophisticated home office that is colored with what the designer called “subtle earthen grays, tans and taupes [that] mingle with sunflower yellow and stone black for a unique twist on a man’s study.”

Kerrie Kelly, of Kerrie Kelly Design Lab devised a trompe l’oeil attic library with wallpaper featuring a 2D pattern based on book spines and an elegantly masculine master bedroom suite.

The master bath by LMK Interiors balanced timeworn finishes with warm dark wood cabinetry in an original attic space.

Last-but-not least, the graceful backyard patio, a “a refined cabana” according to its designer Bryan Tapper of Bryan Douglas Tapper, made us want to linger for the rest of the afternoon.
