Anna Lisa Avelar Shows Us How To Do A Thanksgiving Party Right

Some of my most memorable Thanksgiving moments have taken place while dicing veggies in the kitchen with my aunts, setting the Thanksgiving table with my cousins, and writing the nicknames of each guest on place cards with my sister. A trip to fetch more wine inevitably means a chance to chime in on a whispered conversation I wasn’t meant to be a part of, but find myself a part of nevertheless. That’s why, for me, Thanksgiving is about the beauty of shared connections.  As a host, Thanksgiving gives me the opportunity to show the people I love, with the intentional placement of each candlestick and the careful folding of each napkin, how thankful I am for their attendance, and how special I want to make this day for all of us. I hope a few of my Thanksgiving favorites inspire you do the same.

Table Cloth, Custom (Duralee Baxter Plaid, Cayenne)

Rich autumnal tones bring an elegance to this plaid by Duralee. I had it made into a table cloth to set a festive tone for this year’s Thanksgiving tablescape.

White Cabbage Plates by Bordallo Pinheiro

These cabbage plates by Bordallo Pinheiro were given to me by my mother and are especially meaningful because this classic ceramic style is a beautiful reminder of my Portuguese heritage. I love the texture it brings to the table and the versatility that the white offers.

These pomegranate salt and pepper shakers by Michael Aram give me a sense of fall, while the mix of metals makes them them feel both luxurious and earthy.

There is no substitute for the soft glow and intimate mood that candle light brings to a meal. These candles by Arteriors have a hearty quality making them perfect for a bountiful thanksgiving dinner.

Vintage Napkin Rings, One King’s Lane
Vintage napkin rings are one of my favorite details to incorporate into holiday tablesettings. You can find them at antique stores, estate sales, and online. These are from One Kings Lane, where you can find a large collection of vintage style napkin rings, both old and new.

Fall Floral Arrangement – Rose, Tulip, and Pomegranate

I love the vibrant mix of colors and textures in this rose, tulip, and pomegranate centerpiece. It is so vivid and inviting with a beautiful blend of floral elements.

Cutipol Moon Matt Gold Cutlery
The gorgeous finish matte of this gold flatware by Cutipol offers an opulent feel while having a simple and sleek design, making it great for both formal and casual affairs. The warmth that this finish brings to the table is perfect for the holidays.
