Designer Crush: Lisa Haude
Author:Michelle Konstantinovsky1. Who is your biggest role model?
My mom for teaching me compassion, organization and looking at life with laughter and my husband for teaching me to dream big, trust my instincts and to love life – no matter how stressful it gets.
2. Which movie or play do you wish you could have designed the set for?
Sweet Home Alabama.
3. What is the best way to gauge a client’s personality before starting a project?
I feel like the best gauge on a person’s personality is through casual conversation. Hearing a person talk about their life and who they are helps build a level of friendship and trust as well as gives you some insight on what their expectations will be.
4. What new design trends are you excited to integrate into your work?
We typically don’t follow design trends in our work as I feel that each design has its own unique personality and we don’t want to incorporate a specific trend that may become dated quickly. However, I’m really excited to see copper being used more as it can really add that unexpected pop to a design.
5. How do you completely unwind?
I head for the South of France with my family and good friends and decompress soaking in the sun, the culture, the people and just enjoy pure bliss. If France is not an option, then I snuggle up with my husband, daughter and pet pooch, Chloe. All three of them always bring a smile to my face.
6. If you hadn’t become a designer, which career would you have pursued?
Either a doctor (but math and science are not really my strength) or a professional chef.
7. What’s the worst pre-designer job you’ve ever had and why?
I have worked in the design industry since I was 16 and have loved every minute of it. Before that, I baby sat for kids in the neighborhood and who does not like to get paid to play? So, I cannot say that I have ever really had a bad pre-design job experience…
8. What’s your favorite recipe (can also be a cocktail recipe!)?
My mother-in-law’s BBQ Chicken…yum! It has a secret family recipe rub and sauce and I had to be married in the family at least 5 years before she would even give me the recipe. It’s a lot of work, but worth every bite!
9. Create your perfect playlist for us.
My current “go to” list is (still somewhat inspired by my 9 year old):
Lightning round!
10. Would you rather shop new or vintage?
Vintage.
11. First celebrity crush?
Matthew McConaughey (his early work)…now Ben Affleck.
12. What’s your hidden talent?
Singing and playing piano – I played in a rock band in high school and early college and had a blast!
13. Best restaurant in your area? Where is it?
Black’s Market Table in Houston. They have an amazing rustic “new American” cuisine in a farm to table concept and everything is scrumptious!
14. SF or LA?
SF, I absolutely love that city – the architecture, the history, the views!!
