Bliss & Bone Brings An Elegantly Elevated Touch To One-Of-A-Kind BrandingAuthor:Lindsey Shook
Creating something truly original is becoming an increasignly difficult task these days, but that’s where Bliss & Bone steps in. Whether you’re an independent business looking to leave a unique fingerprint on the web, or a bride set out to ensure her invites are received as something truly remarkable and memorable, founders Cindy and Carl Skanderup understand all too well the daunting task of selecting a design direction when it comes to branding yourself or your business. Born from a love of design and fashion and utilizing the couple’s expertise in that department, the Skanderups launched Bliss & Bone in an effort to provide customizable templates for any creative endeavor.
“Everything these days is customizable,” explains Carl, Founder and COO, “whether you are designing your own shoes, purse or bike, companies are putting the design decisions in the hands of the consumer, and we found that our clients expect no less. We really wanted to build something that gave our clients the tools to make their own decisions, in addition to something that was much more affordable than completely custom.”
Cindy, who is the Founder and Creative Director, got her start in New York City, designing for companies like Ralph Lauren and Tracy Reese before deciding to pack up and move across the country to launch her own design firm in Los Angeles where her client list included heavyweights such as Nike, Vans and La Mer. Cindy’s impressive design knowledge, paired with Carl’s financial background of over 10 years of experience in business, inspired them to embark on something together, and thus Bliss & Bone was born.
The company’s name is an homage to the combination of both feminine and masculine, while also maintaining a bit of an edge, and Bliss & Bone is constantly striving to provide clients with new and exciting design aspects in the realm of customizable invitations and save the dates, which include print stationary and cards, in addition to wedding and business websites. “We are most proud of our new Wedding Website templates and Design Your Own application that both recently launched,” says Carl. “We spent countless late nights designing and developing these products, they were by far the hardest and most complex products we’ve ever built, so getting those finally launched was really exciting.”
The design templates offered on Bliss & Bone utilize a vast array of artistic talent, which separates them from the traditional “cookie cutter” templates most websites offer clients. “We really wanted to build something that gave our clients the tools to make their own decisions, in addition to something that was much more affordable than completely custom,” says Carl. “The most exciting thing is that people are already creating and making design choices that we hadn’t even considered, so our clients are inspiring us in ways we had never expected.”
The Skanderups also fully appreciate that while we are technologically constantly moving forwad, there will always be a need for romantic nostalgia. “All things paper are timeless and extremely gratifying to hold in your hand,” Carl explains, “but the world continues to go paperless, whether we like it or not. We pride ourselves in offering branded solutions from paper to digital, so we will definitely continue to bridge the gap and grow both of those platforms.”
