On The Block: The September Auction at Billings is Like The Tag Sale of Your DreamsAuthor:Philip Ferrato
Where: Billings Auction, 1919 Bay Street, Los Angeles
When: Saturday, September 10 at 12:00 Noon
Exhibition: 10:00Am-4:00PM, Tuesday, September 6 to Friday, September 9
Worth a look, September’s Billings Auction will have something for collectors of every Modernist persuasion. The eclectic sale will feature lots as varied as the lovely, small-scale James Mont polychrome desk (at top) and the tractor seat stool (below) a classic Milanese mashup from the early 70s designed by the Postwar Italian design pioneers Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglione.
Even if cigars are the last thing you’d allow in your house, you’ll find a use for this delightful 1930s Gustavsberg cigar box with an inlaid sterling silver lion– one of Sweden’s heraldic symbols.
Check out the teasers posted on Billings’ Instagram this past week (they’ve become one of our favorites to follow) or slog merrily through the auction catalogue, available online later today. You’ll be able to bid securely online as well.
