It’s one of our favorite times of the year, when design enthusiasts flood the streets of Palm Springs to celebrate mid-century design. The best place to kick-off the week-long celebration is at the 17th annual Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale which will take place at the Palm Springs Convention Center February 17-20, 2017. Held in conjunction with Modernism Week, the Modernism Show & Sale will feature more than 85 premier national and international decorative and fine arts dealers with items representing all design movements of the 20th Century and select 21st century items.

The show is set to host a group of new vendors including Arroyo Artifacts of Pasadena (specializing in midcentury furniture and decorative arts by designers including Harvey Probber, Greta Grossman, Paul McCobb, Paul Lazlo, and many others); Den Mobler of LA (specializing in highly sought after midcentury modern furniture by Scandavian and American designers including Jens Risom, Hans Olsen, Hans Wegner, George Nelson, Milo Baughman, Harry Bertoia, Charles and Ray Eames, and many more); Dennis George Crow of London and Los Angeles (featuring historic photography, art and antiquities, including original midcentury Hollywood “Rat Pack” photography); Edward T. Pollock Fine Arts of Brunswick, Maine (featuring fine prints, drawings and other works on paper of the 20th century), Pietra Gallery of Mexico City (offering unique lighting, furniture, and sculpture designed by contemporary artists and utilizing rare fossils and minerals); Sideshow Interiors of London, UK (offering an eclectic mix of vintage furniture, lighting and objects); and Studio 360 of Chico, CA (featuring midcentury modern furniture, fine art and decorative accessories).

“The Palm Springs Modernism Show & Sale is a unique opportunity for attendees to purchase midcentury modern furniture, decorative and fine arts – mostly from the 1950s through the 1970s,” says Rosemary Krieger, President of Dolphin Promotions. “We ensure that the dealers we feature at this important show offer the finest items of this special period of design history and that many of their items reflect the midcentury resort lifestyle enjoyed in Palm Springs.”

The show opens on Friday, February 17 at 6 p.m. with a festive Preview Reception to benefit Modernism Week. At this biggest party of Modernism Week, attendees will enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres, live music and an exclusive opportunity to be among the first to see and shop the world-class collection of furniture, home décor, vintage accessories, and decorative and fine arts before it opens to the general public. Tickets for the Preview Reception – $75 per person in advance, $95 at the door – include valet parking, a new catalog and free daily admission to the Modernism Show & Sale for the rest of the weekend.  Proceeds benefit Modernism Week’s scholarship, educational and community programs.
