Author:Lindsey ShookOpening April 26 – May 27, L.A. pop-up gallery Furth Yashar & presents Open House: new bodies of work by Los Angeles-based artist-makers, Elyse Graham, Alex Hagentorn, Alex J. Reed and Jonathan Zawada contextually arranged in the iconic Schindler House. This rare exhibit emphasizes how the Los Angeles art and design culture is further providing opportunities for groundbreaking artists to produce innovative work, that is changing the global narrative.
The timing of the show aligns with the celebration of Schindler’s 100 year anniversary of arriving in Los Angeles, where he established himself as the preeminent architect of the modern style. Designed in 1921, the Schindler House was conceived as an experiment in communal living to be shared with another couple, Clyde and Marian Chace. There were four rooms, one for each person to express his or her individuality. In partnership with the MAK Center for Art and Architecture, the exhibit will once again explore progressive design by placing new works from the LA-based makers in a similar manner.
