The 2018 Furniture Society Conference Hits San Francisco June 14-16
Author:Michelle KonstantinovskyReady to get your craft knowledge on? The Furniture Society (a.k.a. the industry’s top educational organization), will host its next conference “NEXUS: Perspectives on Art, Design, Craftsmanship, and Technology“ at Dogpatch Studios in San Francisco from June 14-16, 2018.
The event is intended for anyone interested in buiding their knowledge on, well, built goods: designers, makers, artists, gallerists, collectors, retailers, and students are all invited to discover what’s next for the industry in an increasingly digital world. Through presentations, panels, interactive workshops, tours, and informal social events, the conference will cover topics including the role of women in the craft, technology and design; sustainability; advanced materials; collaboration between designers and makers; shifting consumption patterns; and global craft. Featured speakers include artist/architect/designer Allan Wexler (capstone speaker) and designer/builder/educator and founder of Project H Design and Girls Garage Emily Pilloton (keynote presenter).
