It can be tricky to design an accessible kitchen in a Marina del Ray apartment that is equipped with both a generous amount of storage and style. However, when designing this kitchen, Minarc drew inspiration from their Icelandic roots and the prevalent California consciousness to create an exquisite, eco-friendly heart of the home. “Our origins encourage us to be creative, resourceful and passionate about sustainability,” says Erla Dögg, a principal designer at Minarc.

The entire apartment features custom work throughout that showcases a sophisticated simplicity with high-performance qualities. The Minarc team placed great emphasis on using materials in their most organic form, such as no-VOC paints, stainless steel for its durability and EPA-approved efficient appliances. The kitchen, which is a part of the main living space where the clients entertain, was designed so that all cabinets and appliances are flush and easily hidden. A clever wine cellar blends in with the cabinetry as if it were a trapdoor. A showstopping contemporary pendant created by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for FLOS Hangs over a solid white Silestone island spanning across the dining area. Erla comments: “The material and product choices are contrasting in color and texture like Icelandic natural stone, this tub is anature, where cold and warm are harmonized throughout.”
