The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Celebrates Its New Season By Taking Fans Back In Time at Carnegie Deli

There’s no greater fantasy than stepping inside your favorite fictional universe, and for fans of the Emmy-award winning Prime Original series, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, that fantasy has become a reality — through December 8. The show, set in 1958 New York, has come to life at a Carnegie Deli pop-up replica restaurant in Lower Manhattan at 201 Lafayette Street, at the corner of Kenmare. The special dining spot was designed to celebrate the show’s second season, which became available to stream this week, with everything from mid-centry NYC décor, pricing, and menu options.

Prime VIdeo and Los Angeles based pop-up producers, Tool of North America, worked closely with the original owners of the Carnegie Deli, which shut its doors in 2016 after serving New Yorkers for 79 years. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel pop-up deli has been serving up original sandwiches named after the show’s characters, as well as cheesecake, and black and white cookies. The star of the food lineup? The Maisel, made with Carnegie pastrami, salami, coleslaw, and special sauce on rye bread (and proudly billed as “a sandwich worth the schlep!”). And the pricing can’t be beat: the 1950s theme extends all the way to the register, with .99 cent sandwiches and other unbelievable deals. Prime Video will be donating all of the proceeds from the pop-up to The Lower Eastside Girls Club (LESGC), a safe haven with programs in the arts, sciences, leadership, entrepreneurship, and wellness for middle and high school girls.

“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel firmly established itself in the pop culture landscape with the iconic and groundbreaking Midge at the center of the Emmy Award-winning series, and we wanted to transport our viewers into her world with an of-the-era experience,” Mike Benson, Head of Marketing, Prime Video, said in a statement.  “We’re thrilled to bring back the iconic, beloved New York Institution that is the Carnegie Deli to celebrate the upcoming season and immortalize Midge’s character through the comedic tradition of a namesake sandwich.”

But if you won’t be able to make it to the Maisel pop-up by Saturday, don’t panic: beginning on December 9 through December 16, “The Maisel” will also be added to the menus at local hotspots in three cities across the U.S.: Canter’s Deli in Los Angeles, Manny’s Deli in Chicago, and Mamaleh’s Deli in Cambridge, MA. Each location will serve up to 50 sandwiches a day, free of charge, to get fans in the mood for more Maisel.
