Cambria LAX Offers An Unexpected Airport Oasis

Author:

When Choice Hotels, one of the world’s largest hospitality companies, launched a line of properties tailored for business travelers, skeptics may have questioned the staying power of the offshoot known as Cambria. But after a record year of growth in 2017 and 120 Cambria sites open or in the pipeline, the brand has proven to be a stunning success, as epitomized by its Los Angeles location.

Opening its doors last summer, Cambria LAX is the first of of several L.A.-area projects leading the brand’s California expansion. Located at 199 North Continental Blvd, the 152-room upscale property is a shockingly short drive (even by L.A. standards) from Los Angeles International Airport, as well as nearby businesses including DirecTV, Mattel Inc., and several aerospace companies. But unlike other stereotypical “airport hotels,” Cambria LAX is located in a prime spot close to Manhattan Beach, and less than 20 miles from downtown L.A., making the expansive city surprisingly accessible, even when taking that notorious traffic into consideration.

The property’s modern aesthetic incorporates mid-century nods to old-school L.A. style and vibrant local artwork that pays homage to the city’s iconic era.

The onsite dining area features a menu comprised of local specialties, liquor, wine, and local craft beers, grab-and-go gourmet salads and sandwiches, and a barista bar. The hotel also includes meeting space, high-design fitness center, and outdoor poolside cabanas.

Tech is the name of the game at Cambria. Catering to the needs of jetsetting business travelers, each room comes equipped with a bluetooth mirror, a 55” SmartCast-Enabled HDTV, free, high-speed wifi, and a digital concierge.
