westdrift Manhattan Beach is a Seaside Escape for SoCal Travelers

When people say they’re traveling to Los Angeles, they might mean they’re headed into any number of experiences. There’s the starry scene of Hollywood and the burgeoning nightlife going on downtown, but L.A. has a whole different vibe down by the water. And while Manhattan Beach may officially be within county limits, it seems to exist in its own dreamy, laid-back, oceanside universe. And a major highlight of the small SoCal city is the recently opened westdrift Manhattan Beach

Opening its doors last spring, westdrift Manhattan Beach debuted as Los Angeles’ first Autograph Collection hotel. The property’s 393 luxury guest rooms, 9-hole golf course, outdoor pool, signature restaurant, meeting spaces, and Crossfit-inspired fitness center are spread across an expansive 26 acres. And while the hotel’s East Coast inspiration is infused in every detail, the overall vibe is pure California cool.

Located just one mile from the beach, westdrift’s aesthetic incorporates coastal touches like driftwood, a sandy color palette accented by pops of blue, and natural textures. EDG Design with design consultant Theresa Fatino Design created a cohesive top-to-bottom look that pays homage to New York sophistication while sticking closely to its West Coast roots. The hotel lobby’s soaring wooden columns and metal accents are designed to mirror the historic Manhattan Beach pier, while the custom driftwood reception desk and water-themed paintings commissioned by Sausalito photorealist Eric Zener play up the seaside theme.

Among the 393 luxury guest rooms are 112 accommodations featuring private balconies with views of the golf course and 14 suites (including one of presidential status). Echoing the effortless chic decor of the lobby, the rooms feature soft neutral tones with hints of cool blue, sea glass light fixtures, and little sporty references.

Named for the strong, raw fiber often used for making rope, westdrift’s Jute Coastal Bar + Kitchen mimics the coastal elements of the hotel. The communal-focused dining experience is led by Executive Chef Octavio Sabado and features a bi-coastal inspired menu and cocktail program with a wide selection of seasonal drinks. The sunny setting includes a 360-degree bar, open floor plan, and floor to ceiling windows, making for a bright and airy dining experience.

The hotel isn’t just a golf haven — it’s also a scenic destination for milestone events ranging from retreats and conferences to weddings and more. The property includes more than 35,000 square feet of flexible indoor-outdoor event space, including 18 meeting rooms, a grand ballroom, and three industrial-chic venues.

westdrift Manhattan Beach is located at 1400 Parkview Avenue. Weekday rates begin at $289; weekends at $259. For more information, visit westdrift.com.
