Dims. Furniture Pop-Up at Poketo at Row DTLA

Modern online furniture company Dims partners with Poketo at Row DTLA for its first pop-up.

Frustrated by his search for furniture with which to decorate his first grown-up home, Eugene Kim founded Dims. — short for dimensions, thus the period! — to solve what he felt was a gap in the marketplace for beautiful, functional and affordable modern furniture. “I found it incredibly difficult to find furniture that was inspiring yet affordable,” says Kim. “What it boiled down to was finding people whose work I respected and whose aesthetic was aligned with our philosophy to create sustainably-sourced designs at reasonable prices.”

Now the company has partnered with Poketo for a pop-up that will run through the end of June and coincide with Los Angeles Design Festival. Four pieces — the Barbican trolley, perfect as a bar cart or creating extra space in the kitchen; the Eave table, a dining table/desk; the Caldera Coffee table, whose central dimple ensures favorite objects stay safe; and the powder-coated Rove Side table — will become five by mid-May with the addition of a chair and there are additional pieces in the works.

“Our design teams are from all over the world. Part of the interest and excitement is being able to bring different influences into the American design theme while also working with American and North American designers who are doing original pieces,” says Kim. “We want to be able to meld into any home yet in something new. Internally we use the phrase ‘make room.’ Not just physically, but also philosophically: for new ideas, new blood and new designs. It’s not just about minimalism or making beautiful things but also about providing a platform for voices and talent that can bring something new to the table.”
