On the heels of his new show, Working The Room, Nathan Turner, interior designer and author of Nathan Turner’s I Love California (which celebrates his love of the Golden State), unveils a new cottage suite at The Alisal Guest Ranch & Resort. The 10,000 acre luxury guest ranch in the Santa Ynez Valley, just outside the village of Solvang, offers guests the opportunity to ride horses, fish, play tennis or golf, craft or just relax.

Located off leafy Sycamore Lane, the three-room standalone guest cottage is anchored by a central living room. Reclaimed barnwood paneling, a fireplace with a river rock façade, Ralph Lauren fabrics, and Pendleton accessories nod to 1946, the year that Alisal opened. Vintage artwork and antiques, cabinetry and iron hardware complete the transformation.

“Growing up on a ranch in Northern California, I was inspired by the Alisal’s dedication to authentic California ranch living,” says Turner who turned to his memories of a childhood spent riding horses, raising cattle and sharing home-cooked meals as the inspiration for his design of the space. “I designed the Turner House so that you feel as though you’re stepping into your own ranch house, yet one with all of the wonderful benefits that make the Alisal so special.”

The Alisal Guest Ranch & Resort, 1054 Alisal Road, Solvang, CA 93463, 800.425.4725. Guests can book the entire cottage or each of the three rooms separately—suite 68, the Master Bedroom, comes with the Living Room.
