Joyce Wang Studio unveils new Vegas eatery, Mott 32

Joyce Wang Studio recently revealed their uber cool East-meets-West design of Mott 32, Vegas’s eagerly-awaited new restaurant which recently opened its doors inside the Palazzo hotel at the famed Venetian Hotel. The overall aesthetic seamlessly fuses the sexiness of Vegas with the traditional Chinese aesthetic of the original Mott 32 in Hong Kong.

The 11,715 square foot space gave Wang and the team room to create multiple zones infused with their own unique appeal. This strategic plann allowed for the designer to curate an exclusive feeling for each dinner while creating enough space for 242 dinners to occur at one time.

Upon entering the main dining room, guests are greeted by an overhung metal-chained chandelier, cocooned by the curved vertical dark timber panels which further emphasize the dramatically high ceiling. A semi- private lounge which features a luxurious banquette wrapped in mohair connects with the Boom Boom Room via traditional Chinese pivoting screens which can be opened up to extend the dramatic space. The screens let in the vibrant colour of the Boom Boom Room and acts as a backdrop to the semi- private space, adding to the smoke and mirrors effect of the space.

“We approached the interiors by referencing the past and then reimagining it. We did this by fusing two very strong and individual cultures to create a modern and exciting new universe for diners,” notes Wang. “At the studio we have spent a countless hours absorbing the small nuances of these aesthetically and culturally polar opposites and have found ways to make them speak the same language in design terms. The result is a sexy and exciting interior which connects these two worlds in a very individual way.”
