Boozehounds is Palm Springs’ Coolest New Pet-Friendly Dining Spot

Pet-friendly dining venues aren’t always easy to come by, so when one pops up that’s not just an accommodating spot for dog owners, but one that’s thoughtfully designed with an ambiance as stellar as its food and drink selection, you know it’s special. Enter Boozehounds, Palm Springs’ new dining, cafe and bar concept that’s quickly becoming one of the city’s go-to spots for animal lovers and anyone who loves a good time.

The expansive 3,812-square-foot restaurant also features an additional 1,168-square-foot glass atrium and 2,020-square-foot outdoor patio, all vibrantly designed to make humans and their pets feel at home (they even offer food and beverage options for pups). The concept was a personal one for owners Jimmy McGill, Steve Piacenza, and Bryan Rogers who wanted to create a space for locals and visitors to gather with their canines. The restaurant’s logo pays tribute to Jimmy and Steve’s beloved dog, Striker, who was rescued from the Pasadena Humane Society in 1999 and was part of their family for 18 years. The restaurant isn’t just a cute pet-friendly concept: Boozehounds is also committed to investing in the community through pet adoption drives with the Palm Springs Animal Shelter and by supporting local vendors and artisans.

The restaurant’s aesthetic is inspired by its close proximity to the San Jacinto Mountains, intertwining desert influences and mid-century design with a laid-back Californian attitude. Jenni-Kate Rogers, owner and creative director of Raven and the Willow, is the mastermind behind the interior design, and integrated elements of the brand identity and palette of terra-cotta, mustard, and sage to create a unique and inviting vibe throughout the main dining, lounge, atrium, and patio. Rogers relied on locally sourced fixtures and plants along with velvet booths and natural rattan chairs and wooden tables, as well as playful wallpaper, eclectic details, and custom pieces such as the hand drawn signage by owner Jenna Murray of Spilled Milk Creative, which designed the full brand identity and logo for Boozehounds. The indoor-outdoor restaurant features a mix of indoor communal seating for larger groups and co-working, smaller two and four-tops, and individual bar seating. Lounge, booths and couches are also available.

Executive Chef Corey Baker serves up Southern California cuisine, highlighting local fish. Dishes include the Burrata and Okra (mushroom wasabi brodo with roasted okra, basil, toasted pepitas, chive oil, and focaccia) and Japanese Yellowtail Crudo (mustard yuzu soy, serrano and charred tangelo). For four-legged guests, Boozehounds has a variety of snacks, treats, and bowls on hand, including a Chicken Bowl (grilled chicken, steamed rice, mixed cauliflower) and Weenie-Tini (chicken broth, chicken whipped cream with a doggie biscuit crumble).

Beverage Director Justin Gordon complements the seasonal food menu with crafted cocktails like the Old Yeller (Sipsmith London Dry Gin, Cocchi Americano, Strega Saffron Liqueur, lavender citrus mist) and Dog Day Afternoon (Old Forester 100-Proof Bourbon, spiced blackberry-rosemary cordial, lemon, ginger beer). A variety of frozen, crushed ice, and spritz cocktails are also available, as well as craft beer and wines available by the glass or bottle. The restaurant has also partnered with Palm Springs’ Vagabond Roasting Co. for a coffee and espresso program.

As of this month, the restaurant is now also open for brunch, with a variety of sweet and savory options including White Chocolate Bread Pudding French Toast (white chocolate bread pudding, salted caramel, chantilly cream, and bourbon maple syrup) and the Breakfast Burger (beef patty, maple sage pork sausage patty, fried egg, hot candied bacon, chili maple aioli, aged cheddar, and hollandaise). New brunch cocktails include the Bloodhound Mary (Tito’s Vodka, house bloody mix, tomato juice, Flying Dog Pale Ale, and salted rim) and Southwest Shandy (Teremana Blanco Tequila, Ancho Reyes Verde Liqueur, lime and orange juices, Golden Road Mango Cart Beer, and Tajin rim).

Boozehounds is located at 2080 N Palm Canyon Drive and is open seven days a week with coffee, pastries, and co-working at communal tables from 8am-4pm, happy hour from 3pm-5pm, and dinner from 5pm-close. Brunch hours are 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday and Sundays, and lunch, online ordering, and delivery are to come.
