Save the Date: Bulgari Hotels L.A. to open its doors in 2025

Bulgari Hotels & Resorts—the brand known for the same bold, distinctive and contemporary style that characterizes Bulgari’s luxury jewels, watches, fragrances and more—announced last week that its first L.A. location is set to open in 2025.

With just a few, selected properties in major cosmopolitan cities including Milan, London, and Dubai, and luxury resort destinations, each property is located in the most prestigious area of the destination and strongly references the local culture through a blend of traditional design and dramatic Italian contemporary architecture. will be opening their first location in Los Angeles in 2025. The second Bulgari property in the US, following Miami in 2024, the Bulgari Resort Los Angeles is located in the Santa Monica mountains amongst 33 acres of a stunning hillside park.

The Resort will feature 58 rooms and suites, eight private estates, and the signature Bulgari Il Ristorante, Niko Romito, as well as a 10,000 square foot spa, gym, cinema, and eight-seat sushi bar. Many of the hotel’s guest rooms and suites will be located in secluded bungalows studded across the eastern half of the property.

The destination’s eight residential properties will range in size from 12,000 to 48,000 square feet, each with private land ranging from one to five acres. Each home will also have sweeping views of LA’s renowned canyons, and include plenty of open space, ensuring ultimate privacy while preserving the area’s ridge line and protecting the local wildlife.

The contemporary architecture of the building will be created by South African design firm Studio SAOTA, and will draw inspiration from the surrounding natural environment. Milanese architectural firm Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel—the same firm responsible for designing all the other Bulgari Hotels projects—will bring Italian design to the interiors. The property’s landscape design will be created by award-winning Swiss landscape architect firm, ENEA, rounding out the international team of creators collaborating to build one of the city’s most seamlessly integrated, eco-conscious developments.

Formally known as The Retreat, the new Bulgari resort will be built with the highest sustainable building practices in line with environmental criteria certified by LEED. The developers will also preserve hundreds of old-growth and native canopy trees and planting approximately a thousand additional mature trees to provide shade and habitat for wildlife. The builders will also include ponds, dry riverbeds, and vegetated bioswales around the property to capture and filter storm water and provide natural hydration for plants.
