The Taste of Wine Country

Author:

Call it a meeting of the microclimates. Alexander Valley-based Eco Terreno Wines & Vineyard brings a touch of sunny Wine Country to Fog City with its new urban tasting room and Lyon & Swan supper club, now open in San Francisco’s Jackson Square. With interiors designed by Studio Heimat, the tasting experience combines a historic urban location with a colorful, modern ode to Eco Terreno wines and its biodynamic farm and property.

City and country come together seamlessly in the three-story location. The ground-floor tasting room, serving up wine parings and small bites by executive chef Joe Ball, combines chic urban looks with hand-painted murals of the Eco Terreno vineyards. Upstairs, an upbeat event space boasts sunshine yellow cabinets, pops of Wine Country green and an all-custom Hestan demonstration kitchen.

On the lowest, subterranean level, the nightspot Lyon & Swan gives a nod to the locale’s past with its speakeasy vibe, industrial concrete walls and cool leather banquettes. (The building was formerly the site of several progressive nightclubs including the pioneering lesbian bar, Mona’s.) Lyon & Swan features a full-service dinner menu, classic cocktails as well as live entertainment. You can also witness the hustle of the city sidewalk above your head through the peephole-style skylights in the ceiling.
