Get a taste of the good life at a boutique hotel in Wine Country

On a quiet stretch of Yountville’s main thoroughfare—with convenient access to world-class restaurants and wineries—North Block Hotel instantly charms. Guests are greeted by a lush courtyard with ample seating and an artful fireplace adorned with ceramic magnolias by Owen Mann. The colorful hand-painted tiles on the steps and quaint central fountain further enchant.

The 20 impeccably appointed rooms—at once modern, warm and eclectic—were conceived by acclaimed St. Helena-based interior designer Erin Martin. Beds dressed in sumptuous linens and bathrooms with heated floors ensure a pampered experience, while patios and balconies allow for the enjoyment of Napa’s much-touted indoor/outdoor lifestyle.

Martin was also tasked with the design of The Restaurant at North Block, which opened in 2021. Palisades Hospitality Group’s VP of Design & Projects, Nadine Davis, later worked with Martin’s team on the current iteration, which includes an ombre wall by decorative painter Caroline Lizarraga. Amid this elevated setting, expect to be equally wowed by chef Juan Cabrera’s fare, which showcases his creativity as well as seasonal ingredients from the region’s valleys and coasts. (Warm housemade sourdough accompanied by luscious burrata—surrounded by cara cara oranges, passion fruit gel and persimmon jam—come to mind.) Head over to the bar for lighter bites and a cocktail, including a gratis welcome drink for hotel guests.

Among the amenities at North Block are a spa, fitness center, pool and hot tub. Complimentary continental breakfast is available, as are an afternoon wine pouring and evening nightcap. And be sure to grab a fresh-baked chocolate-chip cookie from the lobby, where a wall covered in keys nods to the past—when hotels kept guests’ room keys behind the reception desk.

The lobby features a small retail area, too. Pick up bath salts from the hotel’s own 6757 line of bath products, K+M chocolate (the K is Thomas Keller, chef of the nearby three-Michelin-starred French Laundry, and the M is olive oil producer Armando Manni) or cozy black-and-white haircalf slippers by beloved Bay Area brand Freda Salvador. These curated goods can serve as souvenirs of a wonderful stay in Napa—and reminders to visit North Block again.
