A Pied-A-Terre For Basketball Fans

Author:

Warriors Fever is apparently incurable. One couple and their two daughters’ devotion to the Golden State Warriors led them to purchase a pied-a-terre near the basketball team’s new stadium in Mission Bay,  tasking Niche Interiors, led by designer Jennifer Jones, to create a simple but stylish venue to welcome friends and family. But with Mission Bay’s excellent public transportation into the financial District and other parts of town, it’s sure to come in handy on the off-season.

High up in a new building, the 2000-sq-ft perch is blessed with wide-ranging views of the San Francisco Bay, the Bay Bridge, and nearby Oracle Park, the home of the San Francisco Giants. It’s also blessed with some challenging interior dimensions, leading Jones and her team to forge some elegant custom solutions. The open living/dining room (at top and below) has no right angles, so a circular carpet defines the seating area, and a low custom sectional sofa has the perfect proportions for the space.

In the dining area, a custom table by Niche, with Gubi Beetle chairs from The Future Perfect under a Geometric Tri LED pendant from DWR.

The biggest challenge was incorporating a king-sized bed into the somewhat undersized master bedroom. The firm’s solution is a custom bed and headboard upholstered in a luxurious mohair, plus cantilevered bedside tables. Wallpaper from Area Environments; handcrafted sconces from Allied Maker.

What We Love: The firm’s ability to create custom furniture so seamlessly well-suited and appropriate to the spaces they inhabit. Below, the daughters’ bedroom has custom bunk beds and a mural by San Francisco decorative painter Caroline Lizarraga.
