“We want clients to see what we think is the best option for the space and then we’re always happy to pull back if needed. I tend to design edited, warm spaces with an emphasis on art or other statement pieces that bring personality,” says designer Lane McNab on her artful approach to design, that was applied to the interior of this cottage in Berkeley designed for a busy father and his kids.
McNab pulled together the entire furniture package inside the 2,000-square-foot home in a little over a month. “It’s a cottage, and trying to buy quick ship and off the showroom floor to fit tight dimensions was a bit of a challenge,” says the designer.
“Getting it done quickly and marrying the warmth of the Spanish Cottage architecture to the desire the client had to go clean and modern was the biggest achievement,” says McNab. “I feel like we were really able to create something warm, clean and beautiful that looks totally at home in the existing architecture.
The final result, is a sweet and sophisticated place where the father’s hectic schedule can take a pause and spend quality time with his kids. McNab says about the big reveal, “My client is super super busy, so we have not connected but I think he liked it!”
