Lane McNab Updates A Home In The Berkeley Hills

Author:

With their newly-acquired casual Spanish-Modern home in the Berkeley Hills in need of a serious update, the homeowners turned to Bay Area interior designer Lane McNab of Lane McNab Interiors. On the plus side, the rooms are substantially proportioned, with simple moldings, and best of all, great light and spectacular views. Keeping things light and airy was paramount, coupled with durable finishes strong enough to hold up to children and pets.

The living room is centered on a new fireplace designed by LMI, clad in stone from La Maison Nicholas. Dining room wallcovering is from Phillip Jeffries and the spectacular pendant fixture is from Modo Luce; the timelessly chic sideboard was designed by the firm for the room.

Below, the kitchen was opened up to add a dining alcove, allowing for more natural traffic flow and access between the foyer and deck. The table and banquette were designed by LMI, as were the kitchen cabinets. The firm also designed a new gas fireplace incorporating a television, sheathed in stone by La Maison Nicholas and flanked by a pair of window seats; throughout the project, the cabinet work was executed by Nicholae Onofrei.

Upstairs, the luminous master suite and its new spa bath.

What We Love: The sheltering family/media room on the lower level with an extensive bar and wine refrigeration. And what’s not to like about grasscloth, smoked mirror and a beautifully composed wall of Heath tiles?
