When living a busy city life with two teenagers, the home owners of this 3,200 square foot San Francisco home desired comfortable interiors with finesse. After discovering the work of K Interiors in a design magazine, the clients were immediately drawn to the firm’s approachable, sophisticated style. “Turned out we had many friends in common and we hit it off right away,” says firm founder and principal Kristen Peña. “It is one of those relationships that I will miss on daily basis now that the project is over.”

“The homeowner’s wanted a place they could come back to after a busy day and feel truly relaxed and comfortable,” says the designer. “Not only did it need to be comfortable, but able to withstand the day to day functions of a real family with children.” No major renovation was needed as the home had stunning architectural details but did not have finishes and furnishings to match. “We were thrilled to get our hands on almost every space to bring the finishes to a level of the architecture,” notes Peña.

The team introduced neutral hues and textures to balance the vibrant art that the K Interiors team selected with the clients. Vintage Persian rugs and an assortment of patterned textiles were also brought in, to play off the color.

“The clients were and continue to be over-joyed with the space,” says Peña. “They feel that it truly represents them as a family and they are proud to share their home with their friends and family.”
