“We truly believe that a home should reflect its owner’s lifestyle and should be a true collaboration and partnership between designer and client,” says Danville-based designer Nina Jizhar. “Our approach is to create sophisticated and unique interiors for our clients yet comfortable and livable where memories will be made.” She applied this approach when designing a vacation home in Healdsburg for a young couple that wanted a vibrant weekend escape where they could entertain family and friends. “They mainly reside in their San Francisco home however since the pandemic they have been staying in this vacation home more especially during the sheltering in place was in effect,” says Jizhar.

The 3,200-square-foot home was previously remodeled in 2015 but lacked the finishing touches. They wanted all new furnishings for the whole house,” she notes. “They wanted each space to reflect their unique character and create atmosphere.” Jizhar infused each space with color and pattern through vibrant tiles, fabrics and dynamic wallcoverings. “Our clients have traveled the world and always brought something with them from the trip,” says Jizhar. “Whether it was artwork, a mirror, or sculpture we had to ensure each piece was incorporated in the design cohesively.”

While some of Jizhar’s other clients prefer bright and airy color palettes in the primary and guest bedrooms, this couple desired a more distinct direction. Our clients love bold colors and are not afraid of pattern,” she notes. “When we were given this creative opportunity, we went all the way by introducing wallpapers in almost every space.”

“During the final walkthrough, they said they feel like living in a new house again,” she notes of the final reveal. “They love how different each room is and can’t wait to welcome their family and friends to this wine country home.”
