Dreamy Celebrity Sanctuary In The Hollywood Hills, $3M

Author:

It’s the perfect hideout– a romantic 1930s compound with a guest house and recording studio, in perfect move-in condition, tucked away on a half-acre lot and secure behind a high wall– ideal for keeping the paparazzi at bay. Or whatever else the universe is going to throw at you.

Pedigree: No Hollywood Hills property can escape its celebrity past. Former owners have included Mark Ruffalo (2004-2009) and Zooey Deschanel along with her then-husband, “Death Cab for Cutie” front man Ben Gibbard (2009-2012). Currently owned by another celebrity who shall remain unnamed. As per our favorite LA architectural historian Pauline O’Conner at Curbed LA, the house was “…designed in 1933 by architect Ralph S. Loring, whose period-revival style homes and apartment complexes can be found sprinkled throughout Hollywood, the Fairfax District, and Mid-Wilshire.”

What We Love: Built on one level (with a period Montecito vibe) there’s an effortlessly simple, casual attitude here that’s still beautifully buffed and polished. And taking a fresh look backwards, the staging by A 1000X Better complements the previous work of interior designer Melanie Kleinman– seen in the library and master suite, below.

The enviable kitchen manages to be romantic and hardworking at the same time, with a spacious eating area at one end and a bar/pantry at the other.
