High Above Sunset Strip, SAOTA x Stahl, $48M

Julius Shulman’s images of Pierre Koenig’s iconic steel and glass c.1960 Stahl House, cantilevering off a hillside over Sunset Strip, are among the most potent visual records of Mid-Century Los Angeles. And now, immediately next door, a new residence dubbed SAOTA x Stahl, pays tribute in the form of a graceful, two-level structure using materials and techniques that Koenig could only dream of sixty years ago.

The Team: Conceived under the direction of luxury developer Clive Robertson; architecture by the global firm SAOTA with Woods + Dangaran; development management by Plus Development; the elegantly spare interior design by Peggy Platner of Platner + Company.

What We Love: While much of the inspiration here is from Koenig’s Stahl House, the project is bookended architecturally by Richard Meier’s Getty Center– posessing a sweeping but closed street front, opening to glorious open spaces and views, plus the use of both polished and split travertine blocks.

More: Go to the listing for additional images and details; there are more images plus a video that really tells the story best here. An extraordinary opportunity to own a stunning work of architecture, represented by Tyrone McKillen of Compass’ Plus Real Estate Group with Branden and Rayni Williams of Williams + Williams.
